About 69 Minutes

69 Minutes is a mobile game born from a simple question: What if the most annoying parts of the internet attacked you while you were trying to do something important?

We've all been there. You're trying to read an article and a popup blocks the screen. You're watching a video and a 30-second unskippable ad plays. You're navigating somewhere and your phone demands you accept 3,847 cookies. Now imagine all of that happening while someone's life depends on your directions.

The Game

You're a passenger in an Uber ride that's 69 minutes long. Your phone shows the GPS navigation route. Your driver needs turn-by-turn directions at every intersection because their GPS is broken. Simple enough — except popup ads keep spawning on your screen, blocking the map, and each one has a different (and increasingly annoying) way to close it.

Some ads have fake X buttons that spawn more ads. Some require you to wait for a skip timer. Some hide the close button in tiny gray text at the bottom of a wall of fake legal jargon. Some just sit there for 3 seconds before you can do anything. And through all of this, your driver keeps asking "which way?" with decreasing patience.

The Irony

Yes, 69 Minutes contains real ads. It's a game about how annoying ads are, and it's funded by ads. We are aware of the irony. We think it's funny. We hope you do too.

The Vision

69 Minutes is satire. It's commentary on the ad-saturated state of modern technology wrapped in a casual game that's genuinely fun to play. The fake ads in the game are parodies — ridiculous headlines like "Your left elbow could be worth THOUSANDS" and "Hot singles in your car want to discuss extended warranties" — but they're not that far from reality. That's the joke.

We wanted to make a game where the thing you hate (popups, ads, cookie banners, scam alerts) becomes the thing you're fighting against. And where the satisfaction of finally closing that annoying ad is the core gameplay mechanic.

Built With

69 Minutes is built with React Native and Expo, designed for iOS, and made by a small independent team. It's free to play, has no in-app purchases, and takes about 7 real minutes to complete a full run (if you're good enough — most people aren't).
